The culture in Hollywood has undergone dramatic change in the last two decades. What were once glorified movies about white American protagonists with inspiring life stories are now replaced by countless films that appropriate other countries' culture and place minorities at the center of their story. This shift in Hollywood is a result of ever-increasing globalization and increased cultural influence on each other, but it's not always a positive change. In certain cases, this process has been used to demean minority cultures for entertainment purposes rather than to celebrate them. One of the most iconic examples of this phenomenon is found within popular Hindi movies from Bollywood. The Hindi film industry has always been one of the most prolific in the world. With 1,006 movies produced in 2013 alone , Bollywood is second only to Hollywood's annual output of 701 that same year. The immense amount of content produced by Indian filmmakers has led to an increase in cultural influence among not just other Asian countries, but also Eastern Europe and Africa . Bollywood films are now very popular across different continents due to their unique mix of stunning visuals, deep-rooted cultural traditions, catchy music, and gripping storylines. The genre is often very fantasy-driven because it stems from ancient Hindu culture mixed with Western-style action sequences. While Bollywood movies continue to influence the world in a positive way, Hollywood is still stuck in the old ways of filmmaking. While it's true that there has been a significant increase in films with leads who aren't white men, they still often perpetuate stereotypes and problematic depictions of other cultures. The total number of films produced by Hollywood each year has declined since its peak in 2004, when over 900 movies were released . One reason for this is that more people are turning to streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix for their entertainment needs instead of purchasing DVDs or going to the theater. This shift in the way we view movies is causing Hollywood studios to make fewer original films and rely more on remakes and reboots instead. Despite the gradual change in Hollywood to include more minorities, there are still plenty of movies coming out of America that are problematic. As an American, it is important to ask if the way Hollywood treats other cultures is right or wrong. It's necessary to question why movies like The Fast and the Furious, which is largely based on Japanese culture, receive awards at the Oscars when they appropriate other cultures' traditions. This kind of behavior is harmful because it makes minorities feel inferior to white people instead of celebrating their influence on modern society. It also stereotypes entire groups based on their skin color or culture instead of focusing on individual stories found within each group. While some movies are treating cultures with respect, others are still harmful. Hollywood movies have changed over the years, but not always for the better. Stereotypes of other cultures have become even more popular in recent years, which can be both positive and negative depending on the situation. 2.The Desi Tandoori Restaurant (2014) 3.The Battle of Algiers (1966) 4.
